Runners and walkers, and anyone with a sense of humor, are invited to take on the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series’ ‘World Emoji Day’ Strava Challenge on Monday 17 July 2023 between 05:00 and 23:00.
“We’re excited to invite runners and walkers to sign up for the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series’ World Emoji Day Challenge on Strava,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series. “This Challenge aims to inject fun into the running experience, aligning with our belief in the sheer enjoyment of the sport. While participants can complete a distance of their choice (minimum 5km), the real challenge lies in selecting the emoji that encapsulates their unique running persona.”
“We’re looking for lots of colour, excitement and creativity,” continues Meyer. “The Challenge will take place between 05:00 – 23:00 on Monday 17 July. Runners can choose their own distance (5km or more), location and route. Remember to capture and share your activities, routes and photos to the RUN YOUR CITY Series Club Page on Strava. Don’t forget to include #RunYourCity #FueledbyNITRO. A pair of magnificent PUMA NITRO running shoes is up for grabs.”

How to join Challenge:
- Runners are to “join” the RUN YOUR CITY Series Running Club on Strava: https://www.strava.com/clubs/rycs
- If runners have not done so yet, they will need to create a Strava Account before they can join the club.
- Runners are to join the World Emoji Day event on the RUN YOUR CITY Series Running Club by clicking on the orange “I’m in” button displayed next to the Event listing.
- Runners must record their run using a smartphone (Android or iPhone device) or smart watch (Garmin).
- All activities logged during the event period must be uploaded to Strava no later than 23:00 on Monday 17 July 2023.
WIN WIN WIN:All runners and walkers who complete the ‘World Emoji Day’ Challenge and share their activity to the RUN YOUR CITY Series Running Club on Strava within the stipulated time frame stand the chance of winning a pair of PUMA NITRO running shoes. The winner will be selected by random draw and announced on the RUN YOUR CITY Series Running Club page on Tuesday 18 July 2023.
