This exciting partnership follows the recent announcement that SA’s premium road running series will expand from three to five cities in 2023 starting with the inaugural Absa RUN YOUR CITY GQEBERHA 10K on Sunday 02 April.

Woolworths’ involvement in the 2023 Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series:

Woolworths provides a wide variety of quality food solutions, including 79 plant-based meat alternatives and 212 plant-based lines including vegetable/grain-based options and dairy alternatives, there is something to suit all lifestyles and dietary specifications! Woolworths’ coffee can be enjoyed with milk alternatives such as oat, almond or soy – made by highly skilled baristas who tender consistently good experiences across the country.

Pre-event, Woolworths will be offering:

• Nutritional advice on what’s best to eat and drink during training runs and during the event.
• One ‘Warm-Up Run’ to or from a Woolworths store where you can meet the local store manager, in the lead-up to each of the events.
• WRewards members will receive additional benefits, so make sure you have signed up.

On Event Day:

• Woolworths will be selling delicious coffee that uses 100% African organic coffee beans from the Woolies Coffee trailer as well as the new Woolies tuk-tuk coffee carts.
• A limited selection of snacks and drinks will also be on offer in the shaded ‘W-Zone’ where participants can rest and relax.

Each of the five events will be assigned R312 000.00 in prize money of which R252 000.00 will be allocated towards the Open Category (R126 000.00 going to Top 10 Open Men’s and R126 000.00 to Top 10 Open Women’s), and R60 000 towards Age Categories (Junior, 40 – 49, 50 – 59, 60 – 69 and 70+ Age Categories).
