The Absa RUN YOUR CITY SERIES believes in making a community impact. To that end, we’ve partnered with the Reach For A Dream Foundation and ask all runners to consider a donation towards this inspirational organisation.
Reach For A Dream Foundation has been able to fulfil the dreams of life-threatened children. No dream is too big or small. Reach For A Dream has always sought to inspire hope, courage and strength in the lives of children who need it most.
As each life-threatened child fights for their life, the Reach For A Dream foundation creates magical dreams to alleviate the psychosocial burden of a life-threatening illness.
Let’s Make Dreams Come True!
We believe that children are the future and that in order for them to flourish, Early Childhood Development is essential component of their upbringing.
It is for this reason that we support TREE’s mission is to promote quality holistic Early Childhood Development and care for children ages 0-4 years. Tree’s vision is to ensure that young children develop to their full potential in line with their rights and needs.
TREE trains in excess of 2000 ECD practitioners every year in accredited NQF (National Qualifications Framework) Level 4 ECD qualification as well as skills development including a wide range of ECD enrichment courses. Through this capacity building, TREE aims to support ECD practitioners to implement quality, holistic and developmental early childhood programmes both in the formal centre based as well as non-centre based programmes. Through the various integrated programmes TREE, reaches and improves the quality of life and educational potential for approximately 40 000 young children aged 0 to 4 annually.
Help TREE to educate and uplift children to a brighter future by donating today!
We believe in making a community impact. To that end, we've partnered with the Durban and Coast Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and ask all runners to consider a donation to this extremely hardworking organisation.
From humble beginnings in 1897, they have grown to a large and successful organisation operating from spotless, modern premises in Springfield Park and are one of the largest animal welfare organisations in the country. Their goal is to make sure that all of the animals in the area which they operate are safe, healthy and happy.
The Durban and Coast SPCA cares for animals in the greater Durban area and help nearly 70 000 animals annually that are abandoned, injured, subjected to unfair or cruel treatment or otherwise in need.
LIV (Lungisisa Indlela Village) exists primarily to raise the next generation of leaders in our nation. LIV place parentless children in an environment where they receive unconditional love, spiritual leadership and where all their physical needs are met.
iThemba Lethu meaning ‘I have a destiny’ was founded by in November 2000 by Professor Anna Coutsoudis (Public Health Scientist) and seven bold and pioneering board members. Faced daily with skeletal babies and sickly mothers, both ravaged by HIV/AIDS, they heard the mothers’ desperate plea “Please Ma, who will look after my baby?”
We believe that every child deserves to be in a loving, resilient, safe family.
For twenty years, iThemba Lethu has been placing abandoned babies/children into permanent families in addition to equipping the youth and leaders of tomorrow with belief & hope through life skills education to help them make wiser lifestyle decisions. We believe in working to empower their parents/caregivers to build resilient home units too!

The South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport’s core focus is to tackle doping in sport in order to ensure a culture of ethics and fair play within South Africa. We’re passionate about sport and we’re passionate about our nation’s sporting heroes setting a good example for the younger generation. Not only would we like our athletes to compete drug-free, but we also want them to be proud to say no to doping. The Drug-Free Sport Act* gives the Institute authority and jurisdiction to carry out drug testing across all sports codes. By doing so we’re inspiring a drug-free sports culture all South Africans can be proud of.
Do you believe in playing fair? Are you a supporter of drug-free sport? Take the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport’s “I Play Fair” pledge now to show your commitment to competing clean. All you need to do is go to http://www.drugfreesport.org.za/, click on the I Play Fair tag and fill in the details as requested. By doing so you will say no to doping.
