The Absa RUN YOUR CITY JOBURG 10K adheres to the standard running industry policy: All entry fees are non-refundable. This is noted on our entry system and when you register; you must agree to this policy. You may not give your race number to another individual – doing so could result in your disqualification, as well as the disqualification of the runner using your race number.
The entry fee for this year’s event is not transferrable to next year’s event. This policy stays in effect whether you are injured, have an unexpected business or family emergency, pregnancy, etc. – there are no exceptions.

2024 Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series EVENT DETAILS:
1. GQEBERHA – 7 April (Elite & Contender field deadline 18 March)
2. CAPE TOWN – 12 May (Elite & Contender field deadline 22 April)
3. DURBAN – 7 July (Elite & Contender field deadline 17 June)
4. TSHWANE – 25 August (Elite & Contender field deadline 5 August)
5. JOBURG – 24 September (Elite & Contender field deadline 4 September)
ELITE & CONTENDER ATHLETE – PARTICIPATION RULES:
1. The first start batch/wave of the event will be the ELITE WAVE.
2. The second start batch/wave of the event will be the CONTENDER WAVE.
3. Elite and Contender athletes will receive special race numbers which clearly identify them and their respective start batch.
4. Only Elite and Contender athletes will start in the ELITE and CONTENDER WAVES.
5. Only Elite and Contender athletes are eligible to win prize money.
6. Participation in the ELITE WAVE, is ONLY open to athletes who have been invited, or apply (within the stipulated deadline) to compete and have formally been
accepted into the ELITE WAVE.
7. The Elite batch/wave will be finalised 20 days prior to each event.
8. Athletes that have not been invited to compete in the ELITE WAVE can apply for inclusion, directly to the Elite Athlete Manager (details above) – please do so before the Elite field deadlines indicated above.
9. Athletes can apply for inclusion into the CONTENDER WAVE directly on the online entry
system. Athlete’s applications will be reviewed against set qualifying criteria and notified of their acceptance or rejection to compete in this category. Athletes need to apply before the Contender field deadlines indicated above.
10. The Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series reserves the right to accept or reject any application for Elite or Contendere participation at its sole discretion.
11. The top 5 South African male finishers in Gqeberha, and the top 5 South African female finishers in Gqeberha, will receive the following:
a. An invitation to compete in Cape Town
b. Domestic SA flights
c. Hotel accommodation
d. Meals
e. Transport and Airport Transfers
12. The top 5 South African male finishers in Cape Town, and the top 5 South African female finishers in Cape Town, will receive the following:
a. An invitation to compete in Durban
b. Domestic SA flights
c. Hotel accommodation

13. Elite Athletes may be contacted for the official Press Conference and/or pre and post-
race interviews.
14. The Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series reserves the right to change the details of the Absa
RUN YOUR CITY Series Elite and Contender Participation Rules at its sole discretion.

Planning to join the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Joburg 10k? Make your journey to the event easy and stress-free by taking the Gautrain! Here’s everything you need to know to ensure you arrive at the starting line on time and ready to run.
Runners can secure their booking:
The Gautrain is the fastest and most convenient way to get to the race, especially if you’re traveling from Johannesburg, Midrand, Centurion, or other parts of Gauteng. Depending on your starting point, choose the nearest Gautrain station and plan your route to the Park Station in Johannesburg, which is the closest stop to the event. A Gautrain bus shuttle service is offered between Park Station and the race start and finish points.
Below are the 9 stations you can choose as your starting point:
Selection can be done through the entry system when entering the event or at Race Pack Collection when collecting your race pack. Only Runners participating in the event with a race number attached to the front of their t-shirt will receive a free pass onto the Gautrain Train and Gautrain Busses.
If you’re driving to your nearest Gautrain station, secure parking is available at all stations. Make sure to arrive early to find a spot, as parking can fill up quickly on event days.
STEP 1: Wear the race number you received at Race Pack Collection, on the front of your race t-shirt on event morning. Click here to view where to attach your race number and temp license.
Please note under no circumstances will runners be granted free Gautrain access without a race number pinned to your t-shirt on race morning.
STEP 2: At the Gautrain Station, go to the event promoters near the ticket office and show your race number to receive your free Gautrain card.
STEP 3: Use your Gautrain card at the gate to access the train to Park station.
STEP 4: Once you have arrived at Park station, EXIT the train station by using your Gautrain card.
STEP 5: Locate the Gautrain buses that will take you to the start.
STEP 6: Climb off at the bus station closest to the start and make your way to the start!
NB: Your Gautrain Card is loaded with sufficient funds to ensure your travel to and from Hatfield Station. Please do not lose your card or you will have to pay.
